Why scrub?
The skin is renewed every 28 days. New skin cells are formed, old skin cells are repelled. As you age, cell renewal subsides and the old, dead skin flakes cling to the skin and remain on the skin for longer. The result: the complexion appears tired, dull and pale. These skin flakes will come off after a while, but slowly and unevenly.
Scrubs offer an instant beautification effect here:
They remove dead skin cells, smooth the skin structure, promote blood circulation, stimulate the regeneration of skin cells and improve the absorption of active ingredients of the subsequent care. The result: Smooth, velvety skin, refined pores and a rosy, healthy complexion! Exfoliation reinvigorates your skin!
Weekly face and body scrubs have been part of the beauty program since antiquity!
Mechanical peelings:
The best known type of peeling is the mechanical peeling. A brush and/or scrub granules support the removal of dead skin cells and the skin renewal. The abrasive particles in the scrub consist of salt or sugar crystals, ground apricot, almond or olive kernels or plant waxes. Due to environmental damages avoid using peelings with plastic beads / plastic abrasive particles!
The application is quite simple: after cleansing apply the scrub to moistened face, neck and décolleté and massage gently with circular movements. Soft face brushes or massage gloves intensify the effect. After exfoliation apply a serum as needed and complete with the usual facial care. However, mechanical gel or cream peelings which can be applied 1-2 times a week are not suitable for sensitive and inflammatory skin!
Enzyme Peelings:
People with sensitive skin and inflammatory skin conditions should avoid mechanical peelings and resort to other options. Ideal for sensitive and mature skin is a scrub without abrasive particles. Enzyme peelings loosen cornifications and dead skin cells without rubbing – these peelings are applied like a cream and simply washed off after a short exposure time. With regular use wrinkles, impurities and unevenness can be reduced.
The enzymes are often derived from papaya or pineapple. These enzymes are able to loosen and remove dead skin cells.
Chemical peelings:
Here are 2 types of peelings available:
Type 1: fruit acids (AHA = alpha hydroxy acid). The fruit acids remove skin cells and stimulate skin renewal.
Type 2: salicylic acid (BHA = beta-hydroxy acid). The particularly mild salicylic acid penetrates into the pores and cleanses from the inside. Ideal for blemished skin, sensitive, reddened skin.
After the exfoliation, treat the skin with a serum and appropriate facial care.
For the body, a shower-cream peeling is recommended: it provides a time-saving and effective gentle peeling in the shower!
